Whew!
The subject line is "getting in
the flow" number one because the other day it rained to the extent that...
well... the roads were rivers. 2.5 feet deep! No lie, wall to wall, passed the
knees, WATER. Oh I wish so bad you could have seen it. I laughed out loud like,
every time I thought about it. "Walking home in the river. HA! No way
around it. HA! No big deal. So DR right now. HA!" So good.
Second purpose for the subject line
is that I am getting right in the swing of things. This missionary stuff, it is
life. I love it. I love the people, I love talking to them. I love when they
call us out in the street, "Americana!" and we respond, "Can you
say Misionera?" and they do. They call us Misioneras, las misioneras!,
every time. I don´t know that that'll ever get old. Love it.
The kids here are the most adorable
things. And I think Heavenly Father knows my soft spot because the times that I
feel a little frustrated or tired, he sends me one to make my day. Take
Anderson for example: a super pudgy 3 year old who lives upstairs. We went to
teach his family, but his parents bailed. While Hermana Erekson was writing a
note, he was copying my every move. We made crazy faces and experimented with
sounds and played challenging hand games (yes, it was a long note:)). Just one
example of the innumerable tender mercies the Lord has shown me as a
missionary.
One other experience we had that was
really cool; we had an appointment with a couple who lived in, like a culdesac,
but tiny. Road the size of a sidewalk. Anyway, we started with those two.
Because we were outside (It is rare that we are ever inside for a lesson... or
at all for that matter. People don´t sit in their houses.) anyway, because we
were outside, neighbors saw us. One mother came out and sat next to me. Her
next door neighbor joined within two minutes of her. One old man we hadn´t met
before grabbed a bucket to sit on. And two teenage boys sat on a porch behind
us. The truth reaches out, people see it and feel it. There is no denying the
spirit the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings. It is a spirit of togetherness, of
love, of learning, and of truth.
Guys, not against mission rules or
anything, but I am so in love. Everything here, good and bad alike, makes me
grateful for the knowledge I have. I LOVE sharing it. I LOVE these people. I
LOVE being a missionary.
And I definitely Love you.
Thanks for your emails and
prayers.
All ma love,
Hermana Charity Paige Meldrum
