Hello everyone!
I am here in my first area, San Pedro. It is hot. (And not only because I am here, contrary to popular belief.)
I have my trainer too! her name is Hermana Erekson and years are to me as months are to her, in other words, she will go home to Logan in like, five weeks. DUDE! But things are good. We have a house to ourselves and rock it. It is super blue, but it will do.
My fun story for the day is about my first night/morning in the field. We put up our mosquito nets and she instructed me to tuck it in so the bugs don`t crawl up in the night. I did my best but kept waking up, I couldn´t really get a good sleep with bugs on the brain, yunno? I spazzed a lot. The last time I woke was around 5:45 and it was light so I thought we missed the alarm, but realized we didn´t.
Anyway, I check the situation and no worries, bed was clear. HOWEVER, on my left inner thigh, just above the knee, oh my goodness, was something stuck to me. I looked closely and saw it was a beetle, about as long as a US quarter. Calmly, no lie, I got out of my bed and net, and scraped it off. I had squished this bug in my sleep and it stuck to me in the night! I kinda wish I had a picture. Anyway, it gets better. I told my companion about it. Turns out, it wasn´t a beetle.
It was a cockroach! ON MA LEG! IN MA BED! Yeah, that´s pretty rad.
Anyway, Things are going well. I am speaking just fine. As I was promised, I am already loving the people, already feeling the spirit, already making many friends and I am already not sick! Wahoo!
I love and miss you all so much. Fun story for Dad, we got to the lunch place with our zone for pday and guess what movie was on the TV. You are right! The Parent Trap. Course, I couldn´t watch it, but I did take a picture. It was a nice thought of home.
I send my love and prayers to all!
