One up-One down...and One to go

FAMILY! I have been bursting to tell you how happy I am! Halfway through the MTC and I still like it. That's funny cause everyone likes their first week. Anyway, from the start, when we got to the airport, I noticed everyone was going so much slower than I wanted to go. Were they not as excited as I was? We found someone with the MTC logo and a picture of the angel moroni and followed him into what felt like a sauna, but was actually outside! Welcome to the next 18 months!

We drove about 45 minutes, singing the whole way (the last time we'd be in key...) and we pulled closer, I was the first to see the temple, probably get that from dad, and almost cried. I AM SO HAPPY TO BE HERE, finally. The temple is even prettier in person and Right after this email session we get to go, INSIDE!

Anyway, got to my room and went to bed. Next morning, 6:30 am, cue missionary life. My companion is my favorite! If you got the picture of my district, she is the one in blue, the one not smiling. She doesn't do that in pictures i guess. But she is hilarious and beautiful, smart and really patient. Her name is Hermana Angeles, she is 24 from Mexico, another blessing cause I speak Mexico spanish. I am lucky to have her. We get along great.

Obviously, from the picture, I am the only white one. One Elder grew up in Colorado and speaks okay spanish, but we are both new to this. Classes are going really well and I can follow along and joke with the native speakers. Although, it is still frustrating how slow I feel. Everyone tells me how wonderful my spanish is, so I decided to pray to notice what they were noticing, cause I only saw the flaws. But yesterday, I got to act as an investigator to two elders (who flew here with me) that only have 5 days of spanish experience. I felt number one, grateful. Number two, grateful. I not only got to see how far I have come, but how difficult it could have been and isn't. I really admire those learning for the first time.

The CCM is very personal. There are about 62 missionaries right now and we are beyond maximum capacity. Does that make sense? Haha. This is the LDS compound, basically, with a gate surrounding the CCM, Temple and distribution center. Sometimes missionaries from the field, or for future reference, el campo, come in to get stuff there. And everyone knows each other well enough that they know when someone is not in the MTC but from el campo. Cool huh?

So I guess that is it for my update. Aside from the fact that you will be glad to know I have already used my lights, worn every pair of shoes, had need for an umbrella, played from my hymnbook for a devotional, and even worn some of my clothes! So all that packing was worth it. I love you all so very much, and I love my people here so very much. Til next week!
